PMI-NNV Educational Offerings

In support of our Mission to advance the recognition and acceptance of project management as a profession, and to advance and improve the existing project management knowledge base, PMI-NNV offers educational opportunities for our members and the project management community at large.

Dinner and Lunch Meetings

Each month we hold dinner meetings in Reno with speakers or panels of experts in their fields.  There are also monthly lunch meetings in Reno and Carson City to discuss topics of current interest to the attendees.

Professional Education Opportunities

This year we are excited about several new educational programs!

In order to bring world-class project management education at affordable prices to our community, PMI-NNV will collaborate with professional training and consulting firms to offer very high quality courses at significant discounts.  These courses will be available through two programs:

Corporate Sponsorship Educational Program

PMI-NNV has been generously supported by our corporate sponsors and partners through funding donations.  This year we are offering a new educational sponsorship for our corporate sponsors providing their project staffs with professional, in-house training courses at significant discounts.

In collaboration with Cypress Professional Services, LLC, a locally owned international project management training and consulting firm, we are pleased to inaugurate the Corporate Sponsor Educational Program with the 3-day course, Leadership and the Application of Project Management.

Leadership and the Application of Project Management (LAPM) is a 3-day, interactive course for both experienced and novice project managers and teams.  The course emphasizes best practices that are essential to successful project execution.  The course is designed to achieve three crucial goals:

  • Expand the participants' capabilities as strong project leaders.
  • Increase participants' knowledge of key project management concepts.
  • Build skill in the practical application of best practice techniques for planning and executing projects.

Participants in LAPM receive the following materials in support of the training and on-the-job application:

  • Attendee handbook of presentation slides
  • The 50+ page Project Management Process Guide, a step-by-step guide to on-the-job application of project management concepts and techniques
  • 10 templates in MS Word™ and MS Excel™ format to document project plans and data
  • 24 Educational Professional Development Units (PDU)

NOTE: Leadership and the Application of Project Management can be delivered in 2 sessions – the 1-day Building Project Leadership and Influence and the 2-day Practical Application of Project Management.
