March Lunch and Learn - Troubled Project Transitions

Ways of Working

Thursday March 27, 2025 @ 12:00PM
Abstract:
One of Project Management’s axioms is that changing the Project Manager while a project is underway is always a critical risk event. Bigger risks can come from changing the client or owner of a construction project in the middle of the work. This presentation explores the project challenges encountered by changing the PM and the client at the midpoint of an already-troubled project, and how the team brought the project to completion.
Fred Valenzano is a Professional Engineer and lifelong Project Manager for Engineering and Construction projects, also Operations Manager for our PMI-NNV chapter. He will be delivering this month's Lunch and Learn session where you will learn how to:
  • Identify the risks associated with project transitions of client/customer, team or PM.
  • Determine appropriate methods you can use to mitigate those project risks.
  • Take away lessons learned from the example project to use in your own projects.
  • Identify go/no go decision points for projects and your involvement in them.
This Lunch and Learn is designed for project professionals at all experience levels who need to manage uncomfortable transitions in their projects. Whether you have or haven’t yet experienced them, you will take away some valuable insights into these transitions
