The PMI Northern Nevada Chapter is a non-profit organization staffed totally by volunteer members just like you. All the benefits that we enjoy in the local chapter are made possible by volunteer members. We really appreciate your help!

Year after year, the Northern Nevada Chapter of PMI works to create new programs and improve existing ones for the benefit of the chapter and its body. For us to continue this progress, it is very important that we persist in having individuals donate their skills and valuable time.

If you are ambitious, dedicated, and willing to contribute by helping create and implement new ideas, we encourage you to join in on the PMI Northern Nevada experience by volunteering. We would like to encourage everyone to participate while they are a member.

Why get involved?

Contributing to chapter activities not only improves the chapter, it also benefits the individual in many ways. For example, you will have the opportunity to:

• Meet project managers in the local area
• Learn new project management skills. Learn from your peers: Participating in volunteer projects will keep your skills sharp and give you the chance to learn from your fellow project managers. After all, we're never too old to learn, right?
• Pass on your skills and knowledge: Many members find it extremely gratifying to pass on their skills, knowledge, and invaluable experience to new or less experienced project managers.
• Enhance your professional skills (writing, presentation, leadership, etc.)
• Expand your network: Our surveys tell us that the #1 reason for joining our chapter is our networking opportunities. With over 120 local members, our chapter is the best place to nurture professional relationships and connect to like-minded professionals in the Reno/Sparks/Carson/Minden/Sierra area. Chapter dinner meetings, roundtables, education seminars, and volunteer opportunities not only provide valuable project management knowledge, they also put you in direct contact with your fellow professionals who could refer you to your next job.

How can we help you?

What are your interests, strengths, and goals? There are many types of volunteer roles and if you are interested we can find a perfect match for you.

Can I Earn PDUs?

Yes! PMPs can obtain PDUs while volunteering at our chapter through a variety of activities. PMPs are responsible for reporting their volunteer activities to PMI. For more information on obtaining PDUs through volunteering, please refer to the Project Management Institute PMP credentials handbook.

How can I help?

We are looking for individuals to help out in all areas of the organization for which you have an interest in.

How Much Time is Required?

Volunteer opportunities range from short-term commitments of a few hours to long-term committee lead roles. For example, the volunteers at the registration tables before the chapter dinner are on duty only a few hours, while members of the Board of Directors make a two-year commitment. The PMI Northern Nevada chapter has many opportunities available. Whatever your skills or schedule, we'll find a way to use your talents!

How Do I Get Started?

Check out our list of current openings below. If you are interested in one, click on 'APPLY NOW' and email your background to the sponsoring member. You will be contacted by the board member or director who is sponsoring this position.

Join our Volunteer Pool. If our current openings don't interest you, but you'd like to be considered for other volunteer opportunities, join our Volunteer Pool. Here's how it works: Just click here and send us your information. Please indicate that you'd like to be in the Volunteer Pool. When a new volunteer position comes available, we'll email it to you first. If we get no response within a week, we'll post it to the current openings list below.
