To our Membership,
In light of the ongoing health and safety concerns as it relates to COVID-19 (Corona Virus), which this week was classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic, and a federal emergency declared this Friday (3-13), we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming networking events which include the March Dinner Meeting (3-24) and Saturday Breakfast Meeting (4-4). Anybody that had already registered for the dinner event will of course be reimbursed. The health and safety of our membership must come first.
The virus is all over the news, with impacts that may be seen for years to come.
As you’ve no doubt heard the best way to reduce risk of exposure is to limit participation in social gatherings. As a result most major sports leagues (NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, and PGA) have suspended their seasons, Disney has temporarily closed its theme parks, folks are being urged to cut down on travel, and even some churches have temporarily closed down. Companies across the board (including my own) have instituted a temporary work-from-home policy, and grocery stores like Costco seem to be unable to keep up with the incredible demand on essentials like water and toilet paper as everyone gets ready to hunker down in home isolation.
These are extremely troubling and tumultuous times, and we can only hope that you and your loved ones remain safe.
Our hope is that this pandemic passes quickly, and with minimal impact both abroad and here in the Reno-Sparks area, but the reality is it may take months to get back to normal. We will monitor the situation closely and when it’s deemed to be safe we will reconvene with our chapter events.
In the meantime may you and your loved ones be safe – health and safety should be our priority right now!
